The Five Programs

The TABV has endorsed a range of Accreditation programs for the tourism industry. The purpose of these programs is to deliver Accreditation guidelines and specialised requirements that are sector-specific. Each program has been developed by industry associations in consultation with tourism operators, consumers, government and other industry groups.

There are currently five programs endorsed by the TABV.

The Australian Tourism Accreditation Program

The Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP) is a nationwide project, which aims to give tourism operators across Australia the ability to apply for 'Australian Tourism Accreditation' online.

The Australian Camps Association

The Australian Camps Association (ACA) Camping with Confidence Program was developed to accredit indoor group accommodation campsites. It is a national accreditation program designed to ensure the camping or outdoor experience is able to be conducted in a manner where the safety of participants and staff is assured. Camping with Confidence was developed in conjunction with the Department of Education in Victoria to enable campsites to meet the Department's stringent requirements for school groups.

Caravan, RV &Accommodation Industry of Australia

The main responsibility of Caravan, RV &Accommodation Industry of Australia (CRVA) besides facilitating national accreditation and training programs is to market and promote the industry lifestyle to Australian consumers. CRVA is the peak industry body for the Caravanning Industry with its responsibility to promote our key tourism market to Australian holidaymakers. The CRVA administers the National Accreditation program for Caravan Parks entitling successful participants to proudly display the Australian recognised Accredited Tourism Business Green Tick. Major park insurers recognise CRVA's accreditation quality management system and offer discounted premiums to operators.

Museums Accreditation Program

The Museum Accreditation Program (MAP) was established as a framework for reviewing museums and galleries operations against industry standards. Museums use MAP as a tool for improvement through two phases - registration then accreditation. Full Accreditation combines self-assessment and peer review. Each museum undergoes an internal self assessment and then receives an on-site visit by a panel of museum peers drawn from across the sector and the state. Accredited museums show that they are applying and meeting industry standards and actively and shape museum practice. They are leaders - recognised for their commitment to continuous improvement and to the future of museums.

Eco Certification Program

The Eco certification program has been developed by industry for industry, addressing the need to identify genuine ecotourism and nature tourism operators in Australia. The Eco Certification Program is now being exported to the rest of the world as the International Ecotourism Standard. The new 2007 Eco Guide Australia Certification Program is an industry driven certification program for nature and eco-tour guides. It provides an industry credential that rewards guides who achieve and maintain specified competencies and standards.
